October 2013 Reviews Round-up

Texas Family

The Novel Approach - 5/5"....You don’t need to read the first three books in the series, this could be a standalone, but I would highly recommend starting at the beginning of this love story. Jack and Riley, along with a FABULOUS supporting cast will grab your heart, and I don’t think you are going to be getting it back anytime soon! I highly recommend this book and the entire series. You will not be disappointed! ...."

Mrs Condit & Friends Read Books - 4.5/5 - "....Texas Family can be read as a stand alone but is better as part of the series. I had not read the first three books and was able to enjoy this one on its own, but there were situations and characters that I did not have the complete 411 on and I feel I lost a little bit of the story to that. So, I will go back to read the first three because I liked this one so much I know I will enjoy them, too. Another sweet, romantic story from RJ Scott, who always delivers what she promises: people in love and an HEA...."

Rainbow Book Reviews - "....As ever, the variety of subplots and events is great and makes sure I was never bored. The issues of surrogacy and adoption are handled sensitively, as is the addition of a child with learning difficulties to the mix. If you like the Campbell-Hayes men and want to know what's going on in their lives, if you enjoy romantic soap operas and ever-unfolding drama, and if you're looking for a great read with lots of heat between loving husbands as well as deeply felt love and affection for their growing DD ranch family in the heart of Texas, don't miss this book! The next installment can’t come quickly enough!...."

The Barman and the Seal

Joyfully Jay - 5/5 - "....This was an emotional read for me. I genuinely fell head long into this story and it was truly due to the way in which R.J. Scott so carefully crafted these two men into living, breathing people.... ....The author really took the time to focus just on these two men and draw out their story slowly, allowing us to see what was going on in their hearts and minds...."

Rainbow Book Reviews - "....Avery and Travis were an odd pair to me. I couldn't quite see how it would work between them, but as I got to know them, they won me over. It was good to visit Ellery Mountain again and see the residents there I've grown to know and love, each adding their special flavor to the mix. At the rate their Friday night get-together is growing, they're going to need a bigger place to meet. It's all good though, a place where friendship reigns and fun is had by all. Thanks, R.J., for again tackling the PTSD issue and, as always, giving us hope and a happy ending...."

Because two men are better than one - 4/5 - "....The Ellery Mountain series is dear to my heart and this addition to the series didn’t let me down!  I was totally drawn into the story from the very first pages and found the beginning very emotional. It was so descriptive that I could feel the pain being experienced by Travis. This introduction to Travis provided insight into the experiences that had impacted Travis and resulted in him coming to Ellery Mountain to heal...."

The Paramedic and the Writer

Joyfully Jay - 5/5 - "....The Paramedic and the Writer was by far the best installment so far in the Ellery Mountain series. Its painstaking slow build, the reluctant lovers, and the careful way in which they watched over each other was just lovely to read!...."

Mrs Condit & Friends Read Books - 4/5 - "....This is a charming character driven story with a smooth plot flow, and characters who are solid , down-to-earth, and could be your next door neighbors. The backstory lays a great foundation for the storyline, and RJ has done a fantastic job of deftly weaving each story in the series together into a seamless and glorious whole. The men are hot,and the sex is even hotter, without being slutty or over the top. RJ’s style of writing is eloquently clear, clean, and concise. I really like how she has a wickedly delicious way of packing all the humor, angst, passion, and action of a much longer story into this short one. I really enjoyed reading this, and if you’re looking for a quick, but VERY satisfying book, then this is the book for you...."

The Case of the Dragons Dilema

Mrs Condit & Friends Read Books - 5/5 - "....Ms. Scott and Ms. Kell make a great team on this book. You’re never overwhelmed with too much information and are generally left salivating and wanting to know what’s waiting for our intrepid heroes in the next book...."

One Night

Mrs Condit Reads Books and a recommended read - 5/5 - "....One Night is a beautiful retelling of the oldest romance story in the world, the meeting by chance of two people, from totally different walks of life, and how that meeting turns their lives upside down. Highly recommended if you love tortured souls coming out and believe love can triumph over everything else...."

Back Home

Sid Love - 4.5/5 - "....This story reads easily and you find yourself involved pretty fast and you become enthralled with the lives of the characters running the book. A good, solid story with a nice plot and a connection with one or more of the characters. What more could you want as a reader?...."
