Hump Day Interview - Silvia Violet

It's Wednesday, it's Hump Day and time for another interview, this week we have Silvia Violet in the Hot Seat!

Thank you for having me here today!

What book/s are you reading at present?

I’m currently reading Kris Ripper’s Gays of Our Lives and re-listening to Greg Tremblay’s narration of Rhys’ Ford’s Cole McGinnis series.

What 5 people, past or present would you have round for dinner?

Alexander Hamilton, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Michelle Obama, and JK Rowling

Do you think that the cover plays an important part in the buying process?

Yes. Most of the time it’s a reader’s first impression. Many times I’ve read blurbs of books and bought them because the cover caught my attention.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Plotting. I wish I could plot extensively but I’ve tried a zillion different methods and none of them have helped me give up my pantser ways.

Do you ever abandon a draft partly written and just move on? Do you keep a file of plot ideas?

I have never abandoned a story I’ve written more than a few scenes for, but I do have lots of plot ideas with notes (and sometimes a scene or two) in a file.

For your chance to win a backlist ebook from Silvia tell us, what are you reading at the moment?

Three Under The Christmas Tree - Out December 5

Add to Goodreads

Ace and Gavin haven't had a threesome in far too long. When Ace meets the perfect guy to join them, he can't think of a better way to kick off the holiday season.

Jonathan is charmed by the sexy couple, and he quickly realizes that what started as a fling has the potential to be a whole lot more.

Gavin feels their connection just as strongly, but even after weeks of the three of them hanging out, he's afraid to suggest they turn their friends-with-benefits arrangement into a serious relationship.

The joy and shared experiences of the season have a way of making magic happen, if only all three men could find the courage to ask for what they want.

Silvia Violet - new releases and competition

Comment on this post for a chance to win a copy of the first book in the Wild R Farm series, Finding Release.

* * * * *

Billy Lawson is the barn manager at Wild R Farm. He likes things orderly and well within his control.

He had a rocky start in life, but he's proud of what he's accomplished and of the farm he helps run. His work is important to him, so important that he doesn't make time for anything else. Even on his days off, he ends up making schedules or exercising his favorite horses.

And relationships - other than his friendship with farm owner, Cole Wilder, and the other men and women at the farm, he doesn't think he needs them. At least he didn't until he watched Cole fall in love. Now he's questioning his opinion that love doesn't exist and hoping for something he doesn't really think he should have. Love is messy. He doesn't like messy.

When annoyance at his inability to be satisfied with his life the way it is makes Billy short-tempered and difficult, Cole sends him on a three-day vacation. He's so stubborn that he spends the first day sitting in a hotel making plans for the farm, but finally, he gets stir crazy. He heads to a bar, hoping to find a hook-up and let that be enough, but on his way home, disappointed by everyone he met, he finds Levi, a scared young shifter with no where to go. He helps Levi get a job at Wild R Farm, but he refuses to act on his feelings for the young man. That would be messy.

When a Title Finds You by Silvia Violet

As I wrote Finding Release, I changed the title several times, but none of my choices felt right. Then, as I was contemplating Cole's struggle to release his wolf, the title came to me. I realized that the there are many types of release happening in this story.

When shifters mate with humans, the children that result are only sometimes able to shift into an animal form. However, these half-shifters feel the call of their animal even if they are stuck in human form. Cole's wolf longs to be free, but no matter how hard he tries, Cole can't shift. He longs to learn how to release his animal, but what he needs even more is release from the fear that if he does, he won't be able to control the wolf's primitive instincts.

Jonah is kidnapped and trapped in animal form. He needs someone who cares about him, to release him from a year of torment and the loss of his humanity. Jonah's family rejects their shifter nature after his mother begins attending a church where the preacher and the congregation believe that taking an animal form is sinful. Jonah longs for release from their prejudice.

When Cole and Jonah come together as lovers the sexual release they experience is stronger and more powerful than either man ever imagined. But sex between them becomes far more than a rush to release, it's a way to heal.
