The Guilty Indulgence Book Club started four years ago after a group of us attended a reader's conference. We decided to start a book club and create a blog. We never dreamed it would get so big!
We have gained over three thousand followers between all of our accounts -blog, facebook, tumblr, twitter, goodreads, audible- and get an average of 10,000 hits monthly on our blog.
We still like to attend reader events. We've been at the Readers Appreciation Weekend (RAW) several times, Authors After Dark (AAD) a few times, The Novel Experience (TNE), GayRomLit, RomFest and the Indie Romance Conference (IRC).
We keep our focus on supporting authors we enjoy reading. Our list of "must reads" has become longer as we discover new authors. Since we love reading and we can't help but give our opinion, blogging is our simple indulgence.
We don't post negative reviews on our blog. We only focus on the books we'd recommend to readers. Books are very subjective so what one person likes, another may not. We attempt to tell what we like about a book so readers can decide if they might like it too.
We participate in the Hop Against Homophobia each year, as well as hosting the Hunky Days of Christmas and our yearly blogiversary blog hop each September.
We read everything! Here are some examples of our favorite books in each of the different genres we read.

Take a deep breath and carry on. Congrats on your growth and may have more!
ReplyDeleteI love the title of you book review blog! To overcome nerves related to work I usually tell myself I am well-prepared for what ever may happen because I have done my 'homework' and I should be able to answer any questions that may come up and I have nailed my presentation. I still get nervous though. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you are prepared and always take a friend who can help you stay calm and give you advise or an escape route!!

I like to think I'm not the nervous type, but when I do I just need to distract myself with something else and I try to be left alone for a minute to calm myself. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI try to take deep breaths. Or if it's waiting on a medical situation with other people or myself, I'll try to distract myself with a magazine or my Kindle.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty self conscious so nerves always seem to get the best of me. I just try to do the best I can in any given situation and hope no one notices the sweaty palms :)

I try to remember that my nervousness is coming from myself. I label it and do a deep breathing exercise until I'm am calmer.
ReplyDeleteI pep talk myself in my head. If I have to give a speech and have a two day wait period to the due date to present I'll pep talk myself for those two days whenever I start to get nervous or worry. In addition, I'll also try some breathing exercises and I'll run around until I'm a bit tired so that I'll be too tired to be worried or scared.
ReplyDeleteI tend to eat chocolate to over come nurves... I know its bad for me but it is nice... :)
ReplyDeleteI don't! Ha. Okay, I try to distract myself. I'm the kind who just avoids thinking about something that makes me nervous. This can lead to the unfortunate, occasional, "oops I was supposed to prepare for this?". But, it works well enough to get me by. Sugar also helps...
ReplyDeleteI overcome nerves by knowing that I am fully prepared if that is the issue and if I am still concerned I find somewhere quiet then drink a cup of herbal tea and read a book, maybe chat to a close friend or even listen to calming music.
