Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 6 - Sue Brown

Sue Brown decided to be here for the sixth day.

She's offering her Christmas story from last year, Bells and Balls or any book from her back catalogue.

The giveaway will close on 23th December at 6pm, GMT.

Question 1: What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Die Hard. I don't care what  people say, Die Hard is a Christmas film.
Question 2. What is your best Christmas memory?

Bringing my little girl downstairs into the lounge. We'd hung angels and stars from the ceiling and they twinkled in the Christmas lights. The sleepy awed expression on her face was worth the time sticking them to the ceiling.
Question 3. What is the best present you’ve received?
Um... I'll get back to you on that one. Christmas presents aren't big in our family because there are so many of us. Okay, last year I spent Christmas and New Year with the threat of breast cancer. The news that I didn't have it was the best ever present I could have,
Question 4. What is the best present you’ve given?
We gave my daughter a baby crib but we didn't have time to put it together. She was five or six, and she built the thing by herself. I think it was the first and last time she played with it but the huge pleasure she and we got was worth it.
Question 5. Santa Claus – real or fake?
I had to tell my kids that Santa Claus was fake when we had no money. However we still keep up the myth.
Question 6. What is your favourite Christmas book?
I'll get back to you when I've narrowed it down.
Question 7. Do you like eggnog?
 Never tasted it.
Question 8. What do you eat at Christmas?
Whatever my ex cooks. He's a brilliant cook and I always invite myself for Christmas Day,
Question 9. Be honest, when do you put up the Christmas tree?
As late as possible and some years we don't bother. My ex was the one for the real tree. I'm just not that bothered and nor are the kids. I do have a purple tree though.
Question 10. When do you open your presents?
When both kids are up. Bear in mind they are teenagers and like their bed. I'm the impatient one, waiting for them to wake up.
Question 11. Do you have snow at Christmas?

Never ever, sob. And I've spent years with disappointed kiddies.
Question 12. What is the best – all-time – Christmas song. Ever!
Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl. It will always be my favourite.

Rob Barker had plans for his weekend and they didn’t involve struggling through the pre-Christmas crowds with the five-year-old niece he barely knows. Left with no choice, he grudgingly takes Pearl to see the sights of London but, instead of following the list his sister-in-law gives him, Rob takes her to With A Kick, an ice-cream shop with a difference.

His plan is foiled when he discovers With A Kick is closed for a private children's party, but the owners kindly let Pearl join in. Rob’s mood improves considerably as he watches Father Christmas hand out presents. Not only is Santa a hot red-head under the beard, he is also one of his rugby team-mates, Mick, a man Rob has always lusted after. After Mick confesses a mutual interest, he agrees to meet Rob at With A Kick’s evening party—where there are definitely no kids - or girls - allowed.

  5. I'm surprised at how many people answering these questions either hate eggnog or have never tasted it. I've never really had the homemade spiked kind, but the kind they sell in the grocery store is thick and creamy and yummy IMO. It's perfect for a sugar addict. It's a good thing they only sell it between Thanksgiving and Christmas or I'd be 50 pounds heavier.

  7. Love this interview. I don't really like eggnog, too sweet for my taste, so I wouldn't worry about missing out.
