Kicking off our 12 Days of Christmas is Annabelle Jacobs, welcome Annabelle...
Thanks RJ for having me on your blog today to chat about my Christmas story, A Christmas Kiss.
A few years ago, well more like thirteen, I went to Wales over the New Year with my sister and her family. We stayed in a beautiful lodge near Snowdonia National Park and the surrounding countryside was stunning, especially when it snowed. We used to put all our booze outside the door to chill, since it was that cold, and watch through the big picture windows as the snow fell blanketing everything in white.
When I sat down to write my christmas story this year, for some reason, that holiday memory stuck in my head, and so that’s where a lot of the story takes place.
If you’d like to win a copy of one of my ebooks, leave a comment in answer to this question…. When do you decorate for Christmas? (I have everything up by December 1st without fail :) )
The Book
Sharing a late-night kiss with his best friend, Alex, is Riley’s dream come true. Waking up to discover Alex was too drunk to remember anything is more like a nightmare. Scared the truth could destroy their friendship, Riley keeps quiet and pretends nothing happened.
Alex can’t shake the feeling that he said or did something stupid on their group’s drunken weekend away—why else would Riley be avoiding him? Although the explanation he finally gets sounds plausible, Riley’s still acting strange, and trying to figure out why that is unearths emotions Alex has worked hard to bury.
Riley knows not telling Alex how he feels is probably selfish, but he wants one last normal Christmas before he has to come clean and face the potential fallout.
He should have known it wouldn’t be that easy.

I put everything up the week after Thanksgiving! I love Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI always used to decorate Thanksgiving weekend, but as my family has aged I find myself decorating less and less.
ReplyDeleteI usually decorate on the last Saturday before Christmas. If Christmas is on the next Sunday I have my decorations up a week earlier.

I usually decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, unless Thanksgiving is early like this year. Then we do it the next weekend, so that the Christmas tree lasts longer.
ReplyDeleteWe usually decorate about two weeks before Christmas.

We bring the boxes out of the basement on Thanksgiving, but it takes about a month to get everything out of the boxes. A little decorating each night before bed ... BTW - I loved A Christmas Kiss.
ReplyDeleteI try and hold out to about the 15th-ish but the kids always wanted the tree as soon as we hit December - now they are mid/late teens the urgency from them has diminished!!!
ReplyDeleteWe usually decorate about two weeks before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWe've never decorated for Christmas. It wasn't something big when we were younger. I do like seeing other homes decorated though =)

We don't do much decorating, maybe we will do something the week before. Happy Holidays to all of you!
ReplyDeleteThere is a bank holiday in my country on the ninth of December...I usually decorate on this date

It varies year-to-year for us. But usually the Saturday that is around 3 weeks before Christmas. This year it will be the 10th.
ReplyDeleteDecember 1st without fail. We even have it marked as an 'official date' on the calendars we have made for each new year.
ReplyDeleteI decorate when I have the time. I just started decorating the tree today. :-)

Mine vaires by year. Usually it's the weekend after Thanksgiving but I'm just not feeling it this year.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have much in terms of decorations. Moved around too much in the last few years to gather anything, really. I do love seeing other's decorations, though.
ReplyDeleteThe last few years we haven't decorated since we've taken long vacations in December and it just seemed like a lot of work for not that many days to enjoy it. When we do decorate, it's usually the weekend after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWhen the mood strikes. Sometimes it's by the second week of December and other times the weekend before Christmas. I'm actually getting ready to decorate now! I'll have Christmas music on, potpourri going, puppies will get into everything I'm sure, then I may have some hot chocolate and a book afterward when the lights are all up. It's going to be fun! Merry Christmas and thank you. peachescon(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate, a Muslim reader here :)
