RJ Invites... Amber Kell

I have the start of a new series once a month on my blog, where I invite a friend to ramble about whatever they like on my blog. To start us off, the lovely Amber Kell (I have to be nice to her once in a while).

For Love of a Story

Thank you Rj for letting me blather on your blog. If you leave a note you will be entered to win a copy of any ebook on my backlist.

I’ve always had the compulsive need to write stories. Some people need oxygen, food, water, those petty life giving things. I need to write. Growing up there was only my dad, my older sister and me. I had a lot of time alone and I began devouring books the minute I learned to read. Fantasy stories always drew my attention the most. I loved to escape to a world where anything was possible. Authors who could weave an entire world for me to learn about had a special place in my heart. Ann McCaffrey was my absolute favorite.

When I got older and read most of the fantasy books in the library, I started to read romance. The fusion of fantasy and romance was a natural merging for me. After I read Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon and a host of other paranormal romance authors I knew I’d found the genre of my heart. My favorite fantasy creature is a dragon, which is why I give them away at conferences. For me the dragon is the epitome of fantasy, an impossible creature with magic who might possibly turn into a sexy man if I’m the one writing the book.

Some people at conferences tell me they don’t like fantasy books or shifters or books with odd characters who might have the ability to cast magical spells. That’s all right I do have some non-magical books. My compulsion to tell a story does sometimes push me in the contemporary genre. The few times I’ve written contemporary it’s because the characters and story called to me enough to leave my treasured magic behind. I find contemporary is a tougher genre to write. In contemporary you have to work within the limits of reality. This is a challenging skill when creating an entire new planet is so much easier for me to write, but perhaps I’m in the minority.

Career advice givers always tell you to follow your passion. If only I had taken that advice a little earlier I could’ve written dozens more stores in that time. Of course I might have starved due to lack of money but it’s a nice dream to think this could’ve been my life all along.

If you haven’t had a chance to read any of my books, I have a vast backlist and some free reads. If you like shifters I recommend starting with Attracting Anthony free on pretty much every ebookstore you can think of and on my website www.amberkellbooks.com.

This is the first book in my Moon Pack series that covers everything from wolf shifters, dragons, wizards, vampires and fae. I am going through the alphabet with this one and some of the series is available in Italian and French.

Blurb:
Anthony Carrow never thinks to find the love of his life when he goes to a bar with his best friend Steven Dell. Getting over the death of his lover has been a hard task for Anthony. After two years he’s still broken-hearted and doesn’t have any intention of joining the dating scene. However, going with Steven to scope out a werewolf club to help his friend find a mate leads to unexpected consequences.

Silver, alpha leader of the Moon pack, has been searching for his mate for a long time. Unhappy with the men he meets he’s given up searching for the man of his dreams until Anthony walks into the bar.

Can a man who’s already suffered a loss once be persuaded to give love a second try or will fear hold them back from finding the love they both deserve.

Amber's Bio:

Amber Kell is one of those quiet people they always tell you to watch out for. She lives in Dallas with her husband, two sons, and one extremely stupid dog.

A listing of her books can be found at her blog. https://amberkell.wordpress.com/
