In The Shadow Of The Wolf - recap of characters

The Wolf/Human Liaison team is four men.

In charge - Rob Tarrant (human)
His partner - Dan Brooks.
Nick Alexander and Joe Christie are wolf partners, second generation cop shifters.

Book one, Shattered Secrets, is the story of Jamie Adamson, a young wolf, and Rob Tarrant.
When a case involving werewolf kidnappings lands on Rob's desk, Jamie seems at the centre  Can Rob relinquish his prejudices and keep Jamie alive? Jamie's friend Doug McKenna is a wolf and assists Rob in rescuing Jamie

Rob is supportive of wolf integration but not of humans having sexual relations with wolves. Jamie: proves him wrong and ends up helping Rob to crack the case wide open and then moving in...and adopting a cat.

Sam Harrison is found with no memory in a house at the end of book 1 and is paired up with Doug to enable him to heal.

Book two, Broken Memories, is Sam and Doug's story.

Jamie is human and wolf. Werewolves aren't a supernatural fairytale but a living breathing part of society. Although even with new laws it's not easy. Race relations and gay rights have shown struggles for acceptance. Add another species and it's a totally different world.

Rob serves in a special police task force on wolf / human cases. He sees it all: fights, murders, and parts of human / wolf interaction people would rather ignore. Rob meets Jamie at a club, unaware the man is a shifter. But interspecies relationships are not on Rob's to-do list.

RJ: Tell me briefly what A Broken Light is about?

DA: It’s about fighting monsters. Not just the very real physical monsters that exist in the world Jace and Elias inhabit, but the monsters inside themselves as well. Prejudice, fear, pain and sorrow all the things that narrow their choices and make them something less than the heroes their outward actions make them seem.


RJ: A Broken Light is something that I know has consumed you for a very long time. Was it harder to write than your ongoing Making Of A Man series?


DA: Thanks RJ! A Broken Light is the most difficult thing I’ve written. It’s much different than the straight forward “slice of life” type romance I’ve written up until now. A Broken Light took nearly a year to finish.

RJ: Can you sum up the two main characters in three words each?

DA: Elias: Idealistic, self-sacrificing, lonely
Jace: Jaded, focused, lonely


RJ: The cover art is gorgeous - can you explain the significance of the tattoos or is that a closely guarded secret?

DA: Thank you Reese Dante did a fantastic job with the cover. If you saw my original “example of placement” art to her then you would really see what a genius she is.
