News Update

Something happened at the weekend. I got the last of my books back from Totally Bound. I always imagined when I had them all back that I would have a lot to say about the subject, and anyone who meets up with me at UK meets has heard it all (LOL).

But, when it came to it, two years extra of waiting for the books after contracts auto-renewed has mellowed me I think... ish...

In summary, new authors, don't EVER sign a contract that auto renews, or get talked into anything that can't be backed up with action. LOL, and ALWAYS speak to authors that have been around the block and get advice before you sign anything.

* * * * *

Anyway, all but one of the books are back out now with myself, all re-edited and a couple of them (Fireman/Cop, Moments) with added scenes.

The last one to be re-released will be Back Home next week.

The cover art is all by the talented Meredith Russell, and she is a bloody miracle worker, sometimes turning around the art in less than a day if I sob hard enough.

As usual, if you have the old versions email a receipt to rjscott.team@gmail.com and Rachel will organize replacements as soon as she is able (she's just ever so slightly busy LOL).

* * * * *

Today I start work on two new projects... The second in the Railers MM Hockey series with Vicki Locey, and also the much requested Gabriel (Legacy #2 - sequel to Kyle). I'm so excited about both of these!

Snow In Montana (Montana #4)

An actor in the closet, a sheriff in love, and memories that won’t stay hidden.

Jordan Darby is known as the King of Christmas. The star of eight made-for-TV Christmas movies, the leading man who always gets his girl. Filming at Crooked Tree Ranch in Montana, in the ice and snow, Jordan is fighting to make a go of his new company and dealing with fears of exposure over one huge secret. After all, who the hell would buy into him being a romantic straight lead if rumors about him being gay were proven to be true?

Sheriff Ryan Carter is advising on the new movie being made at Crooked Tree. He hoped this would be one day of work and nothing more. Until, that is, he meets the hero. But while Jordan is sexy, he’s also very much stuck in the closet—everything that Ryan doesn’t need in his life. And then lust becomes part of the equation, and Ryan’s quiet life is thrown into turmoil.

Their story unfolds against the chaos that overtakes the ranch, with Adam regaining memories that terrify him and make him look at Justin differently, and Justin leaving the ranch to make things right. Only through trusting in love and friendship can Justin and Adam learn to look to the future instead of letting the past destroy everything. But will they ever see clearly enough to do that? And will Crooked Tree Ranch settle back into its usual Montana tranquility?

The Road To Frosty Hollow (with Meredith Russell)

Nick and Cameron face old demons, and find new love, on a Christmas road trip.

Former Marine Nick Sheridan is at a crossroads. With his entire life ahead of him he struggles to find direction and his place in the world. Car sharing to get home for his sister’s Christmas wedding seems like a good idea at first. Spending the time with the man he kissed and left years before, maybe not so much.

Cameron Bennett lost most of his teenage years to cancer and he now lives every day to the fullest. He decides to drive from Seattle to Vermont for his best friend’s wedding and capture moments of it on film. He hadn’t planned on car sharing with the man who kissed him ten years ago, but somehow he ends up with a brooding Nick by his side.

Along the way, the men learn that sometimes life plans mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Love can be found in the most unexpected of ways, and facing your demons head on is sometimes the only way to live.

News Post - Bodyguards 6 and Rozenn Scott

Morning all!

I promise to get a better idea of where I'm at once I've been back at work a few days... I've missed writing so much and I need to dig into it and get my head straight before I throw plans your way!

Just a quick one though. I had a visit from one Meredith Russell and we brainstormed men for covers and I can announce the next Bodyguards Inc book will be called Kissing Alex. Meredith has the art request, so watch this space ...

This story follows Alex, from Twelfth Wonder... now, who remembers him? And do you recall who he was instrumental in saving?

More news on this to follow...

Also, on the MF news side with my alter ego Rozenn Scott, I've added a book 2 title to the series and will have cover art shortly. The title of book 2 is Coffee and Hope.

And now to writing... first, to write an additional chapter with sex scene for The Agent and the Model, then finish my MF, Notes and Roses, and then straight onto Montana 2, The Rancher's Son.

News Round up - December 3rd

Coming Soon...

Well, Love's Design is off with the editor for it's second pass, and is on track for the 11 December release, which is like just over a week away (Panics). I absolutely adore Kirby, and Stefan is just a big marshmallo inside a CIA agent! As for the kids, and the tree, and the snow... it has a Christmas theme as you can see!

Of course it was supposed to be my late November book, but you all forced me to write Texas Wedding (yes, I mean you!), and it pushed everything back. (That is my excuse and I am sticking to it! LOL)

Works in progress and early 2016 releases

Notes & Roses

So, I am twelve k into my first ever MF book, if you only like my MM then skip this paragraph! Notes & Roses is under my new alter ego name *Rozenn Scott* and will be with you February. It's book 1 in a new series, Stanford Creek, and yes, there is a gay brother who will get his own story (promise!).

The Rancher's Son

Finally, two years after Crooked Tree Ranch I will be writing the sequel, the second book in the Montana series. This will be out in March and I already have the initial story line set in my head. So excited to be doing this.

Deacon's Law

This is the next project after Montana 2, being the last in the three book Heroes series (A Reason To Stay & Last Marine Standing, being books 1 and 2 respectively). This is Deacon's story and how he has to pose as a teacher... yep... excited to be writing this one as well...

Alongside all of this Amber and I will be writing End Street 6, and making a decision on whether to wrap the series there, or take it to 8... what do you think?

Next up after that is either Sanctuary 9, Ghost, or Montana 3... I haven't decided yet... I'll see how it goes. I also have the Legacy Series to start.

And of course, in my spare time I'll be writing book 2 in the MF series...

Busy Busy

Conventions in 2016

I can't attend Berlin (the Euro Con) or the Italian con :( Childcare is an important issue for us and so it's hard to go everywhere.

I will be at UK Meet in September (actually for my birthday!) and also hope to get to GRL again, as I get to harass Amber.

Watch this space for more news

Re-releases

The Agent and the Model, is the last book back from Totally Bound for some time, and has new cover art (watch this space for a cover reveal later today!). So that is me having Ellery 4 5 6 & 7. Of course, Ellery 6 & 7 will be available as a volume in paperback as well!

Sanctuary News - Accidental Hero and Ghost - Sanctuary 9

So, as I was writing Accidental Hero (Sanctaury #8) I came up with an entire plotline for book 9 and a title! Just need to get the art done.

Ghost, Elliot and Cole's story, will be with you 20 May 2016.

Oh and just to let you know I finished Sanctuary 8 - this will be released 20 November 2015... it's just off to beta's now :)

I love Simon and Cain's story and it has some new characters to kick start the Chicago arc! Hope you enjoy when it gets here!

My latest book The Summer House, is doing well over on All Romance and Amazon, thank you to everyone who has bought it!

I loved writing it and I already have the story for the next on the same theme of English Hearts - titled Sixways Lane.

Released, one a week, the first one is mine on 12 June, and we end on 17 July with Amber. The stories are based around a plane crash, and how people's lives are changed because of it. The co-pilot, the observer, the guy who misses the plane, the engineer, the person afraid to fly... I hope you enjoy

What's coming up from RJ

My current WIP is Undercover Lovers from the Bodyguards Inc series (book 4) and will be with you end July.

Next up is Accidental Hero which is Sanctuary *season 2*. This starts a new story arc in the Sanctuary Universe and is Sanctuary book 8 and the book will be with you end August.

Then, we have the furst in the Billionaires Club series which will be out end September - a trilogy of novellas based around three men who are too rich and too sexy for their own good and the men who show them what love can really be like.

After that? Well I have Bodyguards Inc book 5, and of course Montana books 2 and 3, Sixways Lane (another English Hearts novel).

What's coming up from RJ and co-authors

August 14th is the date for the final book in the Sapphire Cay series - Forever In The Sun, a wedding, a storm and a love that reaches from the past.

The new series with Sue Brown begins in October - Kings Heart Hospital is the place for sexy romance, love and intrigue and the first book will be out early October - in time for GRL!

And, my MF book is a WIP with Amber, and we've had big discussions about the direction it is taking... so if you read MF as well as MM, watch this space.

Not to mention Amber and I have End Street book 5 out November :) more news to follow...

Monday round up

Where do I start!

Coming soon...

The Summer House

Due out 29 May. I am so excited for you to all read this one. Set in the Cotswolds it is the story of a Veterinarian who faces his demons, and the son of a Lord who faces his future.

Ashby Sebastian Sterling-Haynes has had a lot of boyfriends, but he's never found the one.

The only person he can form an attachment to is his fourteen year old niece, and even that is in jeopardy when babysitting her cat goes all kinds of wrong.

Veterinarian, Connor Lawson is much happier working with animals than with people. He has deliberately returned home and to the Summer House he recalled from childhood holidays for peace and quiet and the chance to heal from wounds no one would ever see.

When his next door neighbor comes into the practice with a cat that has been in a fight he hides in his office because this Ashby guy is all kinds of dangerous. Too hot, too rich, too titled, and way too sexy for his own good.

Can two men who refuse to believe in love ever learn that love is the easy part of the journey to forever?

Work In Progress

Forever in the Sun with Meredith Russell (Sapphire Cay #6, the final book in the series)

Release date 14 August

A beautiful wedding, feuding familes, and a violent storm.  Will Sapphire Cay ever be the same again?  More details to follow soon...

Book 1 - Follow The Sun | Book 2 - Under The Sun | Book 3 - Chase The Sun | Book 4 - Christmas In The Sun | Book 5 - Capture The Sun | Book 6 - Forever In The Sun

Undercover Lovers (Bodyguards Inc #4)

Even if Ross and Kyle make it out of this alive, will the secrets in Kyle's heart stay safe?

Kyle gets caught up in a case that is entirely unrelated to Bodyguards Inc. Not only does he abruptly need time off, but he has to have absolute trust and complete support from Ross without being able to tell Ross a thing.

CIA Agent Stefan Mortimer needs Kyle's help with a case of a geneticist and a missing formula. Trouble is being led right to Kyle’s door, endangering the life of the team he has built and the man that he loves.

Going undercover, with Ross as his fiance, is the worst kind of torture in so many ways, but it is the only answer. Kyle and Ross may well live through this but Kyle is convinced his heart won't survive.

News

Bodyguards Inc

When i was planning Undercover Lovers, I all of sudden had inspiration on a book 5, featuring Stefan who will appear in book 4 (and if you recall, had a name check in book 3 on the very last pages!). This, of course, means there will be a book 6 in this series, as I print them in pairs to paperback. ROFL. Watch this space for more news...

Also, book 5 will be the RJ Scott Christmas book, so expect the usual romance, snow & drama with added bodyguard sexiness!

Christmas 2015

As confirmed above, my Christmas book is Bodyguards Inc #5 - Love's Desire... cover art to follow...

Finally

Hugs and love to you all... :)

Oops - my bad

That moment you go to Goodreads and see you have 11 pending questions you never even realised were there... I also had a couple of emails this week so I thought I would post the answers to the main questions here:

Yes, there will be definitely be a Texas 7. I will write *Texas Wedding* as and when Texas recognise same sex marriage... and there will be an offshoot set in the future dealing with Jack and Riley's son... and of course Hayley (and her cousin... winks)...

Oh and I have a whole three book series idea offshooting from the kids in court in Texas Fall :)

Sorry, but I wont be writing a sequel to The Christmas Throwaway (well, i don't think so, but there again, i have all these ideas, and Christmas is soon... and ...)

The Rancher's Son, book 2 in the Montana series will be with you January 2016. I'm sorry for the delay on this but I am taking back creative control of Crooked Tree Ranch and this means the delay is inevitable until I have CTR back with me.

Yes, there will be more End Street with Amber Kell... lots more. Again we are taking back creative control and re-releasing along with lots of new stories... watch this space for news...

I hope this helps, and I am so sorry to those that asked these Qs over on Goodreads that I missed (for the past six months)...

HUGS YOU ALL

Round up of news, Sanctuary 8, Bodyguards Inc 3, a PA, and other bits and pieces

Hi everyone, welcome to the round up of news. I'm not well still and this is my way of easing back into the writing today... :(

News

Accidental Hero (Sanctuary #8) - Yes I decided to go there. Sanctuary 8 is Cain's story and you can find more information about it at the link. This will be a new story arc now the Bullens are dealt with :)

Max And the Prince is out 27 March

For A Rainy Afternoon is out 1 April

I have my ticket for GRL - San Diego, October, so that is Euro Pride Con, UK Meet and GRL in my diary for this year... :)

My wonderful new PA

I finally did it, I now have a PA to help me with the *back end* stuff for RJ Scott. It's been five years and I finally came to the realisation that I have to let go of some of the stuff that stops me writing.

So welcome to Janet who says she can organise me and says I will have more time to focus on my writing. I am beyond excited!

If you receive an email from rjscott.team@gmail.com then that is Janet, going about her business and organising the unorganisable!

New Releases

Max and The Prince is with you Friday (only four more days). This is book 3 in the Bodyguards Inc series and follows the story of Max, who we first met in the short story I wrote before Christmas.

Did you miss the short? If you did then it is here: The Curious Case of the Missing Stapler

Max is assigned to a Max-is-A-University-Student job which he is horrified with, added to which his charge is royalty in hiding. Not a good combination, and when death visits the University Max has to figure out who the murderer is before Prince Lucien becomes the next victim.

Max and the Prince will be available at All Romance and Amazon 27 March, and at other third parties shortly thereafter.

For a Rainy Afternoon will be available to read 1st April from Dreamspinner Press. It is currently available for pre-order from AllRomance and Amazon. It is book 1 in a series of 5 linked-by-theme books with the amazing Amber Kell, Amy Lane, Marie Sexton and Mary Calmes. I'm excited and nervous to be among such illustrious company... :)

Robbie runs a small Post Office made from a converted Station House in a village northwest of London and his world is rocked when he finds love in unexpected places. He inherits a sealed box which includes several rare first editions and a cookery book. Only when the secrets of the ingredients in a particular recipe are finally revealed does everything begin to make sense... and a love story that began seventy years ago is finally uncovered.

Work In Progress

My current WIP is The Summer House, book 1 in my English Hearts series. A man with the weight of titles and money meets a Veterinarian and abruptly his entire life changes.

Ashby 'Ash' Sebastian Sterling-Haynes has had a lot of boyfriends, but he's never found the one.

Veterinarian, Connor Lawson is much happier working with animals than with people.

When Ash comes into the practice with a cat that has been in a fight Connor hides in his office because this Ashby guy is all kinds of dangerous. Too hot, too rich, too titled, and way too sexy for his own good.
Can two men who refuse to believe in love ever learn that love is the easy part of the journey to forever?

This book will be with you end May. :)

Retrograde - Flight HA1710

Book 1, in a linked--by-event series written with Amber Kell, Meredith Russell, Serena Yates, Clare London and Olivia Erikson.
Co-Pilot Lachlan Donaghue wakes up in hospital, a survivor of the crash of Flight HA1710, with memory loss and the suspicion that he could be at fault for the tragic accident. When everything becomes too much he goes home to hide, back to the small Scottish town he grew up in and to his family home.

Rory Kendrick watches the news, sees every hour of the disaster unfold but never thinks that Lachlan was in the middle of it all. Or that his friend will be forced to come back home to hide and to heal. What Lachlan needs is a friend, not a lover, but sometimes the lines are just too blurred to make any sense.

Print Books

The Bucket List was released as an e-book in January and proved to be a popular book. I was so pleased with lots of wonderful reviews and comments. The book has just been made available in print.

Rainbow Gold Reviews - 10/10 - "....Beautiful and heartbreaking in one emotionally charged, well written novella.

....This novella, well I can’t say enough good things about this one. I loved it and would highly recommend this to you if you are looking for a story with some heartache and a whole lot of love...."

Bike Book Reviews - 5/5 - "....This book is a lovely little treasure that I can't wait for you to read! Thanks Rj for another beautiful read that will be at the top of everyone's re-read list!...."

Prism Book Alliance - 4/5 - "....Scott has the ability to write characters who are real without being over-drawn. She leaves many details just out of sight, because they are not essential to the core of her story. We are not handed great amounts of angst, nor are there horrific traumas unexpectedly revealed. Yes, there is a mystery that needs explaining; and there is sorrow in Mark’s youth that needs to be exorcised. Scott gives us just enough to help us embrace both Jason and Mark for all the good things they are, and to understand their motivations as they rediscover each other through their shared love of Andrew and grief over his untimely death.

Sales, Darach's Cariad, Texas Fall, Angel in a Book Shop, news round up

GRL

Yes, I know I owe a GRL round up. I am so swamped with deadlines that it's all slipped through the cracks, so to speak... more soon... promise. One bit of news is that we will try our best to get to San Diego next October if we can. ;)

New Releases

Out now is Darach's Cariad - Book 2 in The Fire Trilogy. This series is one of my babies and is a re-release. I love this series because it crosses strong men with magik and danger. I hope you enjoy!

Darach Gravenor is a keeper of blue Fire. He is alone in his world and he wants to rescue his friend Kian from the horrors of the Other World.

Ceithin Morgan is Cariad. Strong with Ancient magic he teaches Darach that not all children's fairy stories should be believed. Ceithin has his own reasons for helping Darach and shows Darach that there is magic that he never even knew existed.

They are living on borrowed time. Guardian knows what they are doing and he is coming for Ceithin. Darach and Ceithin have two choices -- do they run, or do they make their stand together?

* * * * * As with all my titles originally with Silver Publishing, if you bought the original Darach, please contact me with proof of purchase and I will happily send you an updated copy. * * * * *

Sales

Book 1 in the Fire series, Kian's Hunter, is available at Love Lane Books, ARe and Amazon at 99c for the rest of November. So can pick up Kian + Darach for under $4. The buy links are here: Kian's Hunter - Fire #1

The Gallows Tree was on sale for a week to celebrate Halloween and Bonfire night and we were quite shocked that it even popped it's head into the MM top hundred on Amazon briefly. If you read it and enjoyed it then let me know, or alternatively post a review on Amazon (that would be cool!)

Texas Fall

This book is in editing and there is something like only twenty or so days until it will be available. I am SO excited for you all to read the latest installment in Jack and Riley's life.

Angel In A Book Shop

As of today (5 November) I am over half way through the book. Michael and Josh are just so interesting and exciting to write, and kind of hot, and this book will be with you mid December with a wintery seasonal theme just in time for Christmas.

My office, cover art, University

The Cave
This week has been a very unsettling week. My daughter get's her A Level results tomorrow which dictates which University she will go to. She is hoping for Cardiff and a place there on the English Language & Linguistics course. So we're all on the edge waiting...

Added to that we had last week off on holiday in Yorkshire, which means I have the 'back to work' feeling. I love my work, but I am tired from last week.

Then we had our first ever release from Kay Berrisford go live and that is way harder than it looks!

Then (can you see a pattern) Matt is at home for the holidays, i.e. not at school... that makes things *interesting*.

Then, last week a bed collapsed on me, no don't ask how, and I have damaged my Achilles tendon... *grimaces*... so, meh, cramp and ache and ouches abound.

So, today I decided I wasn't working. No marketing, or writing, or anything. *save my eyes, and my brain*.

That lasted a few minutes and THEN my newly printed posters arrived for Max and the Prince & Deacon's Law, and I had to get them up on the wall!

I am a sucker for cover art. I love cover art, and I am lucky that I have some of the prettiest men on the prettiest covers! So I decided to sort out my office a bit... and put up all my posters and then added some postcards... then I sorted all my paperbacks into order... then I tidied out my desk draw...

And now I feel all inspired to write... so I guess it was the right thing to do!

UK Meet, Writing News, Kell/Sexton/Lane/Calmes/Scott linked stories (squueeeee)

UK Meet

I can sum up the meet in Bristol as a series of connected surreal moments. From meeting people I'd only spoken to via facebook or email, to being transfixed by a trio of rather stunning bums (and the guys they were attached to!) to the fact it seemed like the whole weekend was set to make me reevaluate everything I am as an author.

The meet was awesome and I had so many high points. I was anxious before I went because of a couple of things that may or may not have ended with me hiding in my room. But, if I can sum up the entire weekend in one word it was realisation.

Realisation that when you are sat at your desk on your own you are actually not alone, in that there are hundreds of us all over the world with the same feelings of isolation. I also listened when people said that the isolation is worse when you are *blocked*. Hell, yes. When I'm writing, I could be living on the moon and I wouldn't notice (apart from having Meredith and Amber *virtually* by my side!). But blocked as I am this last week I feel very isolated.

Then the realisation that I have had success where some haven't, and failures where others are achieving great things. I was asked for advice on marketing, and writing, and I enjoyed that part, apart from feeling like I sounded like I have all the answers (I don't) or that I am qualified to talk (I'm not!)... ROFL... a few people looked to me for advice and at the same time I looked to others.

When Aleksandr Voinov stood up and gave his awesome speech about inclusion, he made the point that we should own who we are. And that who we are is what we should be. (I think he made more sense when he said it!). In the main, if you are a straight woman writing Gay romance, that's cool, and likewise you can be gender fluid, gay, straight... whatever you are... people should respect who you are and there should be no judging. (I am crap at summaries, but his speech made me emotional...)

I still get people ask when am I going to write *normal* books, or do I write *fifty shades of grey* type stuff. All I know is I am happy, more than happy to be doing what I do.

And lucky. Jeez. I am a full time writer, I make a good living from what I do, I am at home for the kids, here when Matt comes home from school. If I want a day off I take it. I spoke to people at the meet who were just starting out, or hadn't had the luck I have had, and balance writing with family and a full time job. Hell, I have it easy.

So what was UK Meet about?

Was it a marketing opportunity, a sales opportunity, a chance to drink wine and ogle mens bums? (Did i mention bums again?). I laughed so hard with Garrett and Meredith, and ate so much bacon at breakfast I probably am 50% pig. I drank wine and cocktails and doodled great pieces of art in the speeches and panels. I made life changing decisions on the direction of my writing (mostly under the influence of alcohol or bums). So in summary, was that what UK Meet, and other *get togethers* means to us all?

Nah, UK Meet was, in summary, a chance for every one of us to learn about our inclusive community, and that we are not alone. That we are writers, and readers, in a genre that is only just beginning to bloom in ways we can't imagine. That every one of us has had failures, successes, good luck, bad luck, good publishers, bad ones, stories that sold, stories that failed. That the community is a spectrum of writers and that we all have each other's backs.

I like that.

I like it a lot.

Incidentally...

I had quite a few people comment on the fact I have the coolest fans and friends who support me in everything I do. I didn't think anyone else noticed except me about how awesome my readers are.

Guys, if you talk to me on FB, or buy my books, or review me, then I would say to you that other people apart from me notice, so I thank you so much I don't even know how to put it into words just how much your friendship and support means to me.

All of which leads me to up to date news about my writing

My head is splodey... seriously... I have tried for a week to start Last Marine Standing... and I just CAN'T... Ask anyone, I've tried. I have a story, I have what I think are two strong characters, and I even know how it ends... BUT... I can't get the motivation for the *reason why* certain things happen. Every time I look at the piece of paper, or the screen, my head is just full of nothing. It's not quite as bad as the complete block at Christmas, but it's bad enough that I have today woken up utterly inspired by two decisions.

1. I'm not writing Last Man Standing now (ducks from missiles). Yes, I said it would be with you end July, but I am thinking Autumn (Fall) instead. I hope that isn't too bad and that everyone can see I have a good reason for not wanting to write you all a shit story.

2. I'm going to pick up Something Else (TM).
  • Maybe my story for a series of linked books I agreed to (see news below).
  • Maybe my book for the portal series.
  • Maybe something different altogether.
I was hoping that being in among all the wonderful authors and readers in Bristol I would find it easy to be inspired for Last Marine Standing. Nada. However, I do realise from discussions I had that I need to get my head straight and make some decisions. Forcing myself to write something that doesn't feel *right* at the moment is just going to produce a book that will be crap.

The Ex Factor (Bodyguards Inc #2)

Book 2 is out end June... Erika is currently tearing her hair out editing it and it should be with proofers soon... So excited for you all to read it... :)

Love Lane Books

LLB has a new author. Kay Berrisford will be joining the LLB team with a new series... coming soon, more news to follow...

Diane Adams is *this* close to finishing her new paranormal book for LLB.

Meredith and I are *this* close to finishing Sapphire Cay 5. Also Meredith is *this* close to finishing her book, Alter Ego, a contemporary in her new Knowles Brook Series, set in the fictional town of Knowles Brook in the UK.

Chris Q and I are *this* close to finishing Heat...

Lots of cool news... and another author *this close* to coming on to the LLB team (fingers crossed).

The trouble Amber gets me in to

So, I get a PM from Amber when she is at RT...

Was I interested in writing a linked novella with Amber, Amy Lane, Mary Calmes and Marie Sexton...?

Sqqqquuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeee

So after I considered it carefully (I think it took about half a second) I was like... very casually, like I wasn't as excited as a kid at the adult table... *That would be so cool* followed swiftly by, *are you sure they want me in it?*

Self doubt self doubt self doubt self doubt self doubt self doubt

Anyway. I am writing a story set in a book shop, which ironically is where my first ever published story was set (Ascension in *A Brush Of Wings* from Dreamspinner). I love book shops and all the hope and promise that sit on the shelves.

And... the books are going to Dreamspinner and would be available as a paperback with all five stories, and ultimately available as individual stories I believe... I am so excited.

So... watch this space...

As usual... hugs you all so tight you squeak...

Other News

Release date set for Bodyguard 2, The Ex Factor – 27 June

I'm part of a group writing five related stories based around an old cookery book, my co authors are Amber Kell, Marie Sexton, Mary Calmes and Amy Lane... seriously, I am not worthy. This is being offered to Dreamspinner who I haven't really worked with in a long time, and then only for a short story in an anthology and a short MMM, so this will be interesting. The idea is we each write a freestanding book but that they all form part of a larger story arc... very excited.

A Reason To Stay is still in the Amazon.com 100 for gay & gay romance and has done so well, so thank you EVERYONE for buying and reading and reviewing. Love you all.

Book 2 in the Heroes Series, entitled Last Marine Standing, will be with you end July.

Monday News Post

So this week is a game of two halves...

Writing

The first half (or 3/5 to be exact, less the time it takes me to get my nails done!) is writing AND FINISHING The Ex Factor (Bodyguard 2). It is currently at 25,000 words and will be around 40,000 and I want it off to my Beta before Thursday.

MM Writers Retreat

The second half of the week (Or 2/5) is Thursday and Friday at the inaugural MM Writers Retreat... two days, one night, authors in a country hotel in the middle of nowhere... plotting and planning and probably drinking also...

The authors have this group idea to create a series based around the beautiful house we are staying in... watch this space for more... on my twitter, FB & instagram I will hashtag with #mmwritersretreat for any news or interesting gossip. Very excited and if all goes well I will probably organise to do something like this again, later this year or early next... The website featuring the first brave writers to attend is here: http://ukwritersretreat.weebly.com/

Releases

The Italian Translation of The Christmas Throwaway will be available this Friday. I am so excited to see how this one does... :)

Texas News

Due to the unfailing poking from several millionty people... looks at you all pointedly, you know who you are... there is an extreme likelihood that there will be a Texas 6, at the moment titled Texas Fall. Written and due for release around GRL again I think... I have had two or three stories in my head for the longest time but I sincerely thought I would be boring you all by writing them. Turns out that isn't true according to emails and posts, so, I give in... Texas Fall is aiming for an early October release. And no I will NEVER have Jack and Riley apart, or dead, or maimed... although I may hurt them a bit they will NEVER doubt their love for each other or their families.

Sanctuary News

I'm not sure I have enough hours in the day but there will be a Sanctuary 8... just not sure of title or release date yet...

UK Meet

Looking forward to attending and planning marketing and book orders daily... is awesome.

RJ's recommended reads

I owe reviews on a couple of books (KJ Charles, Joanna Chambers) and I promise my succinct one liner reviews (or two if you're lucky!) will return in the next few days.

Current WIPs:

The Ex Factor (Bodyguards Inc 2)
The Case Of The Purple Pearl (with Amber Kell)
Capture The Sun (with Meredith Russell) 50% done
Heat (with Chris Quinton)

Delays - *A Reason To Stay* *Dreams* *End Street 5* & *Heat*

Hi guys. You may recall I kind of lost January in the whole *I can't write any more* meltdown. Unfortunately this has impacted on the release of book 1 in my Heroes series - A Reason To Stay.

Instead of late March, this will now be 11 April for release on Love Lane and all third party sites.

I am just going to update everywhere...

The mini breakdown also impacted my blog story, apologies for that one, normal service will resume on *Dreams* from next week.

In addition I have been delayed in two co-writing projects, one with Amber Kell (End Street 5) and one with Chris Quinton (Heat). My apologies to both co-authors.

The good news is that I'm back! My muse is happily sitting at my desk with me, and is constantly whispering storylines and dialogue...

Also, if Texas make marriage legal... just you wait for Texas 6!
Hugs RJ X

The horror of not being able to write, book news and the Valentine Trail

The Horror!

So the weirdest thing has happened... I haven't been able to write. For two whole weeks I've just been staring at the screen and wishing that I could get my mojo back. Yes I've been ill, but that has never stopped me before. It's a weird and wholly unsettling thing to deal with.

Last week I tried the 500 words at a time target and it worked well, I managed 3,000 words each day but when I read them back I realised it wasn't RJ's writing, I hadn't connected to the heart of my characters at all.

I moved an entire chapter to the middle of the book, re-wrote parts of chapter one... still, today I think I have some serious re-editing on what I did last week.

I think what I will try today is the *ignoring what I've written and instead focus on the next chapter* kind of writing so that I can at least get past the mental block.

What I hate the most is that whole scenes are in my head. I can envision them, know what compels each scene, I can even see words. I just can't seem to put them down in writing. :(  (Meredith Russell described it as a moment of having a movie in her head that she can't capture into words - I like the way she thinks).

I guess this is some kind of writer's block or missing muse, but I have always written in the same mindset as Nora Roberts who said:

“Every time I hear writers talk about ‘the muse,’ I just want to bitch-slap them. It’s a job. Do your job.”

Writing is my job, it's also my passion and my drug (yes, I know that sounds dramatic, but a single day without writing normally leaves me angsty). I've been part of the adult workforce for twenty seven years and I finally found what I wanted to be when I grew up - a writer. I am lucky that I am a full time writer. I get my head down and I get writing, so this last two weeks has been really hard. I am miserable. I even considered yesterday that I was burned out and that I would never be able to write again. GAH. Yep, I have feeling sorry for myself down to a fine art. ROFL. Taking away writing is like taking away that drug and I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms...

So today I have woken up determined to crack this book which is all heroes, and hot sex, and family, and guns, and .... GAH... I love this story in my head... JUST GET IT ON THE DAMN PAPER! (or word processor!)

*slaps self*

Out Soon

On February 14th, The Agent And The Model is out with Totally Bound for all third party release. Book 7, and the final book in the series, focuses on Mikey. Set six years after The Barman And The SEAL it is Mikey's story and how his life changed after being the victim of a hate crime.  Read more about this book...

The Valentine Trail

I have asked some of my author friends to send me romantic scenes to celebrate Valentines. I will be posting these daily in the week leading up to Valentines... watch this space for more details...
