God, I love these hex stories, and one set in the Wild West? It's a no brainer for me... I loved this so much and I desperately want more of these two and the Hexas Rangers...

Hexmaker is the second book in Jordan L. Hawk’s Hexworld series, following the adventures of witch policemen and the familiars they bond with. Download today to enter a world of magic, romance, and intrigue.

Review: Jordan L Hawk is one of my favourite authors. Every word she writes in these worlds she builds is perfect. The romance, the magic... le sigh.
This new book is another chapter in the Hexworld Series, and is just a perfect blend of magic, and mystery, and of course, twists all over the place!

Fallow - Jordan L Hawk - Bloody brilliant

Between the threat of a world-ending invasion from the Outside and unwelcome revelations about his own nature, Percival Endicott Whyborne is under a great deal of strain. His husband, Griffin Flaherty, wants to help—but how can he, when Whyborne won’t tell him what’s wrong?

When a man from Griffin’s past murders a sorcerer, the situation grows even more dire. Once a simple farmer from Griffin’s hometown of Fallow, the assassin now bears a terrifying magical corruption, one whose nature even Whyborne can’t explain.

To keep Griffin’s estranged mother safe, they must travel to a dying town in Kansas. But as drought withers the crops of Fallow, a sinister cult sinks its roots deep into the arid soil. And if the cult’s foul harvest isn’t stopped in time, Fallow will be only the first city to fall.

Sighs. When I read a new Jordan L Hawk book I am in my happy place. Admittedly I was desperately hoping this was a new SPECTR book (hint hint) but oh my god, how I love Whyborne and his Griffin.

If you're up to this book then you will love it so much. If you haven't tried Jordan's writing, then I so recommend this series. I've never met a sexier more heroic couple of men!

Review: Hexbreaker by Jordan L. Hawk

Hexbreaker (Hexworld 1) by Jordan L. Hawk

Will a dark history doom their future together?

New York copper Tom Halloran is a man with a past. If anyone finds out he once ran with the notorious O’Connell tunnel gang, he’ll spend the rest of his life doing hard time behind bars. But Tom’s secret is threatened when a horrible murder on his beat seems to have been caused by the same ancient magic that killed his gang.

Cat shifter Cicero is determined to investigate the disappearance of one friend and the death of another, even though no one else believes the cases are connected. When the trail of his investigation crosses Tom’s, the very bohemian Cicero instinctively recognizes the uncultured Irish patrolman as his witch. Though they’re completely unsuited to one another, Cicero has no choice but to work alongside Tom…all the while fighting against the passion growing within.

Tom knows that taking Cicero as his familiar would only lead to discovery and disaster. Yet as the heat between them builds, Tom’s need for the other man threatens to overcome every rational argument against becoming involved.

But when their investigation uncovers a conspiracy that threatens all of New York, Tom must make the hardest decision of his life: to live a lie and gain his heart’s desire, or to confess the truth and sacrifice it all.

SPECTR book 1

Unregistered paranormal Caleb Jansen only wants a normal life. But when a demon murders his brother, Caleb knows he has to avenge Ben’s death, no matter what the cost. Unfortunately, his only allies belong to an extremist group who would kill Caleb if they found out about his talent.

Gray is a wandering spirit, summoned to hunt and destroy demons by drinking their blood. This hunt goes horribly wrong, and for the first time in his existence Gray is trapped in a living, human body. Caleb’s body…and Caleb is still in it.

Hotshot federal agent John Starkweather thinks he’s seen it all. But when he’s called to exorcise Caleb, he finds a creature which isn’t supposed to exist outside of stories. For Gray is a drakul: a vampire.

Having spent his life avoiding the government as an unregistered ‘mal, Caleb can’t let himself trust a federal exorcist, no matter how sexy. And he certainly isn’t going to give into the heat growing between them and sleep with Starkweather.

Can Starkweather win Caleb’s trust and convince him he isn’t the enemy? Can Caleb keep Gray under control, as the drakul experiences the temptation of a living body for the first time?

Because if he fails and Gray gives in to bloodlust, Starkweather will have no choice but to kill them both.

Review
See all my Jordan reviews HERE. This SPECTR series is a contemporary / different world. I found the beginning chap a little confusing and then everything just flowed... and I loved it. Review of Maelstrom by Jordan L. Hawke

Maelstrom by Jordan L. Hawke

Buylink and Series details here

Between his father’s sudden—and rather suspicious—generosity, and his own rash promise to help Christine plan her wedding, Percival Endicott Whyborne has quite enough to worry about. But when the donation of a mysterious codex to the Ladysmith Museum draws the attention of a murderous cult, Whyborne finds himself in a race against time to unlock its secrets first.

Griffin has a case of his own: the disappearance of an historic map, which quickly escalates to murder. Someone is sacrificing men in dark rituals—and all the clues lead back to the museum.

With their friends Christine and Iskander, Whyborne and Griffin must discover the cult’s true goal before it’s too late. For dark forces are afoot at the very heart of the museum, and they want more than Whyborne’s codex.

They want his life.

Review: This is book 7 in the series and it seems to me that every time I finish one I have to say that it is the best one yet. Romance, adventure, sorcery, betrayals, it's all in this book.
Not sure that I have ever read another couple so much in love as Griffin and his Ival.

One of the things I like best about Jordan's writing is her ability to create epic battles and this book is no different. There were moments when I gasped in horror because I couldn't believe what was happening, and then moments when I laughed, in particular the dictionary incident.

If you're a fan of the series and you are waiting for book 7, then you're in for a treat. Definitely the best one yet.

Review of Dangerous Spirits by Jordan L. Hawk

COMING SEPTEMBER 15th - sequel to Restless Spirits by Jordan L. Hawk
Dangerous Spirits
Blurb: After the events of Reyhome Castle, Henry Strauss expected the Psychical Society to embrace his application of science to the study of hauntings. Instead, the society humiliates and blacklists him. His confidence shaken, he can’t bring himself to admit the truth to his lover, the handsome medium Vincent Night.
Vincent’s new life in Baltimore with Henry is disrupted when a friend from the past asks for help with a haunting. In the remote town of Devil’s Walk, old ties and new lies threaten to tear the lovers apart, if a fiery spirit bent on vengeance doesn’t put an end to them first.
Review: Classic Jordan - a mystery, spooky goings-on, and two fantastic lead characters. Enjoyed this so much I couldn't put it down.

Hoarfrost is due out 21st April.

Buylinks here:

NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec’s view on weird is changed forever.

Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last thousand years waiting for Alec. He’d been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn’t expect him to be human, and he certainly didn’t expect that shield to be a police badge.

Both men, strong-willed and stubborn, are still learning how to cope with the push and pull of being fated, when fate throws them another curveball.

Rumors have spread quickly of turmoil in Egypt. Covens are fleeing with news of a vampire who has a talent like no other, hell-bent on on unleashing the wrath of Death.

Alec and Cronin are thrown into a world of weird Alec cannot imagine. What he learned in school of ancient pharaohs and Egyptian gods was far from the truth. Instead, he finds out firsthand that history isn’t always what it seems.

My Inspiration Wall

I am lucky enough to have an office (aka converted dining room) and on the wall above my PC is my inspiration. Anyone that know me will know that I LOVE my cover art and that it inspires me. What you may not know is that I like, if I can, to have the cover art first. This inspires my writing no end and also means my guys descriptions match the cover. Of course the process of choosing the cover models is hard but it's just something i have to do (ROFL!).

On the top row are my released books (Heroes  and Bodyguards series). The second row is my WIP.

In order, I am writing The Summer House (English Hearts #1) next, then Undercover Lovers (Bodyguards Inc #4), then Deacon's Law (Heroes 3).

You'll also see signed pictures from Jordan L Hawk who I fangirled TO DEATH at GRL... poor girl.

There is also fan art from Karrie Jax who took a quote from Guarding Morgan (Sanctuary book 1) and made me some gorgeous art.

I don't fall in love on a whim. In fact, I've never been in love. For me this could well be my forever. I want it to to be your forever, too.

I also have a shelf for my print books (bottom left) but it's only a small shelf and I have run out of room... :O Oh and I have a calendar with my cover art on it currently showing The Barman and the SEAL (Ellery book 7) and Deacon's Law.

What do you think of my space?

Restless Spirits - Jordan L Hawk 5/5

After losing the family fortune to a fraudulent psychic, inventor Henry Strauss is determined to bring the otherworld under control through the application of science. All he needs is a genuine haunting to prove his Electro-Séance will work. A letter from wealthy industrialist Dominic Gladfield seems the answer to his prayers. Gladfield’s proposition: a contest pitting science against spiritualism, with a hefty prize for the winner.

The contest takes Henry to Reyhome Castle, the site of a series of brutal murders decades earlier. There he meets his rival for the prize, the dangerously appealing Vincent Night. Vincent is handsome, charming…and determined to get Henry into bed.

Henry can’t afford to fall for a spirit medium, let alone the competition. But nothing in the haunted mansion is quite as it seems, and soon winning the contest is the least of Henry’s concerns.

For the evil stalking the halls of Reyhome Castle wants to claim not just Henry and Vincent’s lives, but their very souls.

Review 5/5 and a highly recommended read

I adore Whyborne and Griffin, I love SPECTR even more and when I was sent Restless Spirits I wasn't sure Jordan could start another new series that would capture me as much as those two did. I was wrong. I was hooked from page one and time seemed to fly as I read the book. I love Henry and his skepticism and Vincent and his fire... just... perfect Jordan L Hawk.

p.s. Love the cover, my fave of all JLH covers. :)

Jordan L Hawk and her plans for 2015

Since RJ so graciously invited me to her blog, I thought I’d take the opportunity to talk about the year ahead.

I’m looking forward to 2015, not least because the first book in my brand-new paranormal historical series, Restless Spirits, debuts in January. I’m very excited to share these characters and their world with all of you!

Following that, it will be a return to some old favorites. Hoarfrost, the 6th Whyborne & Griffin book, is scheduled for an April release.

Next up, SPECTR Series 2 will debut with the very tentatively (so don’t hold me to this!) titled Drinker of Blood in June, followed by SPECTR 2.2 (as yet untitled) in August.

Rounding out the year, Whyborne & Griffin No. 7 will be coming to you in November. Oh, and at some point I’ll be doing a stand alone release of the W&G short story “Carousel” (currently available as part of the Another Place in Time anthology). I just need to figure out when!

And to answer the inevitable question: Yes, I do plan for all of these to be available in audio. :)

So thank you all for a fabulous 2014, and see you next year!

Summoner of Storms - SPECTR 6 - 5/5 & Highly Recommended

Federal exorcist John Starkweather’s life is in tatters. His best friend Sean betrayed him. SPECTR, the agency he viewed more as a surrogate family than an employer, wants him dead. His only allies are members of the mysterious organization called the Vigilant, whose motives remain in question.

The only thing keeping John together is the presence of his lovers: Caleb Jansen, a powerful telekinetic, and Gray, the vampire spirit possessing Caleb.

Together, they must not only evade capture, but somehow stop SPECTR from building an army of demon possessed soldiers. If they are to succeed, John must question everything he’s ever believed about SPECTR and spirits. And Caleb and Gray must decide how far they’re willing to go—not just for John’s love, but for his very life.

Review - 5/5 & Highly Recommended

I haven't read a book like this before, where the visuals of the battle are so descriptive, and the action so choreographed that this runs like a movie. An amazing book, which is book 6 and the final book in this particular arc for our heroes. Although the author tells me *series 2* is coming 2015...

I can not recommend the SPECTR series enough. I love every page of her Whyborne and Griffin series, but SPECTR has my heart.

Round up of news from some of my favourite authors...

Amber Kell

Amber has a cover reveal and http://amberkell.wordpress.com/ has updated her blog story (unlike me L ) and has news on a new release called Diomedes.

When Diomedes Stollen learns his mother is trying to take over the world he does what any self-respecting demon-vampire would do, he makes a pact with the local werewolf alpha. Or at least he tries, but first he has to clear up a minor kidnapping issue.

Varick Taylor leads one of the largest packs in the city, but when a beautiful man has him stolen from his home he doesn’t know what to do. Luckily his inner wolf is more than happy to claim Dio as his mate.

A demon mother, a vampire father-in-law, and dozens of tiny demons add to the mix as two completely different people try to figure out how to combine their abilities while saving the world.

Meredith Russell

Meredith Russell http://meredithrussellart.blogspot.co.uk/ - has a new book coming from Love Lane Books in the Summer called Alter Ego which is a gorgeous book set in England, and has created wonderful new cover art for so many authors that I don’t know which one to pick. So I killed two birds with one stone and chose Diomedes to keep her and Amber happy! ROFL.

Marie Sexton

Marie Sexton has an awesome and very different book out and the news for *Release* is on her blog - http://mariesexton.net/

Although he’s sure Davlova’s elite is involved in something horrific, proof is hard to come by, and Misha begins to fall in love with the man he’s supposed to betray. Then Misha meets Ayo – a sex slave forced by the neural implant in his brain to take pleasure from pain – and everything changes. As the lower class pushes toward a bloody revolution, Misha will find himself caught between his surprising feelings for Donato, his obligations to his clan, and his determination to save Ayo

SA Meade

SA Meade has a new book out from Totally Bound, Darkness at Endersley follows the story of Josh and more information can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22074646-darkness-at-endersley This is next on my to read list as I loved book 1!

Joshua thought he’d left his past behind, but there’s something in the darkness at Endersley.

Joshua Endersley is glad to leave a broken engagement and his sordid desires behind in London and claim his inheritance on the rolling downs of Wiltshire. What he doesn’t need is temptation in the form of artist, Daniel Wyndham, to remind him of all he wanted to forget.

Joshua finds Daniel impossible to resist and the two men embark on a passionate affair that draws them ever closer. Joshua believes that he can find happiness and live his life the way he wants to in the peace and seclusion of Endersley.

But nothing good can last forever. The very remoteness and solitude that Joshua loves about Endersley turns against him—the darkness at Endersley is deeper and more dangerous than he could have ever imagined.

Eli Easton

Sometimes there are awesome perks to being a writer with writery-type friends. I read Eli Easton’s *The Mating Of Michael* a few weeks back and all I can say is that it is another highly recommended book. Loved it so much and it’s out on 30 June (only three more days!). There is an excerpt here: http://elieaston.com/

Everyone admires Michael Lamont for being a nurse, but his part-time work as a gay sex surrogate not only raises eyebrows, it's cost him relationships. Michael is small, beautiful, and dedicated to working with people who need him. But what he really wants is a love of his own. He spends most of his spare time reading science fiction, especially books written by his favorite author and long-time crush, the mysteriously reclusive J.C. Guise.

James Gallway’s life is slowly but inexorably sliding downhill. He wrote a best-selling science fiction novel at the tender age of eighteen, while bedridden with complications of polio. But by twenty-eight, he's lost his inspiration and his will to live. His sales from his J.C. Guise books have been in decline for years. Wheelchair bound, James has isolated himself, convinced he is unlovable. When he is forced to do a book signing and meets Michael Lamont, he can’t believe a guy who looks like Michael could be interested in a man like him.

Michael and James are made for each other. But they must let go of stubbornness to see that life finds a way and love has no limitations.

Jordan L Hawk

Sue Brown is writing a series for Love Lane Books *YAY*… think werewolves and ranches… so exciting. She also recently released book 4 in her Lyon Road Vets series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22294872-stormin-norman 4.5/5 and my favourite of the series so far.

Dan had been Jesse’s partner for many years, and always there for Jesse on his return from difficult assignments. However, after breaking his promise not to leave again, Jesse learns to his cost that Dan can be pushed too far. When he returns home, broken in body and spirit, Jesse finds his house empty and Dan in the arms of someone else.
To fill his life, Jesse decides to get a dog. His friends and neighbours take him to choose a puppy. What he doesn’t expect is for Norman to choose him. As Jesse takes on a new job, with Norman’s assistance, he realises that Dan isn’t far away, and he still loves him. Dan has moved on with his life. Can Jesse do the same?

KJ Charles

Kj Charles had awesome news, she is now a full time writer, which means I get to read more books from her, so it’s a win:win situation… rofl... she has a new book out but sadly I haven’t made it to her list of pre-sends so I am at this moment sicking Jordan on her and getting Jordan to tell her how awesome I am… ROFL… more news from her http://kjcharleswriter.wordpress.com/

Think of England is her new book

Lie back and think of England...

England, 1904. Two years ago, Captain Archie Curtis lost his friends, fingers, and future to a terrible military accident. Alone, purposeless and angry, Curtis is determined to discover if he and his comrades were the victims of fate, or of sabotage.

Curtis’s search takes him to an isolated, ultra-modern country house, where he meets and instantly clashes with fellow guest Daniel da Silva. Effete, decadent, foreign, and all-too-obviously queer, the sophisticated poet is everything the straightforward British officer fears and distrusts.

As events unfold, Curtis realizes that Daniel has his own secret intentions. And there’s something else they share—a mounting sexual tension that leaves Curtis reeling.

As the house party’s elegant facade cracks to reveal treachery, blackmail and murder, Curtis finds himself needing clever, dark-eyed Daniel as he has never needed a man before…

Necropolis (Whyborne & Griffin #4), Jordan L Hawk - 5/5

Introverted scholar Percival Endicott Whyborne has spent the last few months watching his lover, Griffin Flaherty, come to terms with the rejection of his adoptive family. So when an urgent telegram from Christine summons them to Egypt, Whyborne is reluctant to risk the fragile peace they've established. Until, that is, a man who seems as much animal as human tries to murder Whyborne in the museum.

Amidst the ancient ruins of the Pharaohs, they must join Christine and face betrayal, murder, and a legendary sorceress risen from the dead. In the forge of the desert heat, the trio will either face their fears and stand together—or shatter the bonds between them forever.

Review 5/5

I've read all the other W&G books over the last month or so and when I was offered an early release copy of this I fell on like a pack of ravenous dogs on a steak. So many twists and turns and I had one moment where I actually emailed the author... poor Jordan...

Loved this book so much. Percival thinking things he shouldn't and having Griffin put his straight had me aaaahhhing at the story. God, these two are so in love. I read it in one sitting and as usual I was not left disappointed. Love the mystery and the Egypt links, just everything about the story. Christine, I envy her, I want her adventures. Jordan can not write these books fast enough for me. But, I also want SPECTR books as well... ROFL

Note

I haven't read Remnant which is a co-authored story from Hawk & KJ Charles. This takes place before Necropolis BUT there is NO reason you HAVE to read that one... except... you should... it's FREE.... and it's here - https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/404000 and I am downloading it now...

Hainted by Jordan L Hawk, 5/5 and Highly Recommended

The Good Guy
Haint-working runs in Dan Miller's blood. Not everyone can help the restless dead cross over, especially when the haunting threatens the Living. But the death of his parents six years ago forced Dan to give it up in exchange for raising his brother and sister, all the while struggling to keep their rural NC farm afloat.

So when the flamboyantly goth Leif Helsvin shows up on Dan's doorstep looking for help with an evil necromancer named Runar, Dan's first instinct is to turn him down. With two teenagers to look after, he's already got all the trouble he can handle. Besides, the sexy Leif is too much of a temptation, and Dan is firmly in the closet.

The Bad Boy
Pierced, tattooed Leif never has sex with the same guy twice. It keeps things simple, especially since his oath to stop Runar has him constantly drifting from one town to the next.

But this time, it looks like Leif is going to need help, in the form of the very down-to-earth Dan. Since Nice Guys are off the menu, Leif just has to keep his hands to himself for as long as it will take to stop Runar's latest scheme. But as Leif finds himself drawn deeper into Dan's life, he quickly realizes he's not just in danger of breaking the rules, but breaking his heart as well.

The Review 5/5 & a Highly Recommended

Imagine this... up to a couple of months a go I had never read a Jordan L Hawk book. Seriously. And now I have mainlined everything, the last of which is this book ** which I could not put down. This is a contemporary book in the sense it is grounded in the modern day BUT this is not a world you or I would recognise as normal. Ghosts are abound, necromancers, and through all it  the thread of magic is woven around Leif and Dan. Jordan's writing is stunning, fluid, and she weaves worlds that I can lose myself in. So  many twists and turns and vivid imagery that I had to read straight through to the end. Highly Recommended.

**I have read an advance copy of Necropolis (Review to follow) and I have a free Jordan wrote with KJ Charles as well! Then that is it... I'm done until the next SPECTR book... *gutted*
